It'll end in tears...

On January 23rd of this year mathyula took his own life. He was only 37 years old and left behind a young daughter not to mention a musical legacy and many people that loved him and will miss him greatly.

I feel bad for not posting this sooner. Matt and I met at 9jezebel9's funeral and in February of 2004 he found this community and posted an entry about her:

It seems only right that I return the favor though I wish I did not have the occasion to do so. I am not surprised that Matt is gone but I am saddened by it and will carry the burden of his death as I have Tara's. I would give almost anything to have either one of them back.

I'll leave you with his last public LJ entry and a link to his obituary. Also note that my icon is a photo he took in Fitchburg MA.

August 12, 2010

As the Darkness creeps over the Northern mountains of Norway
and the silence reach the woods
I awake and rise... Into the night I wander
like many nights before, and like in my dreams, but centuries ago

Rest in peace Matthew.

The recent months have seen two LJ users lose their battles with Cystic Fibrosis.

65redroses

Her journal documents her journey with the illness, the documentary '65_RedRoses' that was made about her double lung transplant in 2007, and her life and her love. Her journal contains many links to articles that confirm her existence and her passing.

Eva Markvoort passed away on March 27th, 2010. She was 25.

aubrey_osiris

Also 25, she passed away on October 15th, 2010. Confirmed here by her twin sister (locked entry, but membership is open) and also in an external obituary here. Original founder of the cystic_fibrosis community.

I urge anyone who is reading this to consider becoming an organ donor.

Pudi, 1972 - 2009

mirrorworld - "Pudi" - took his own life on 3 December 2009.

I've been meaning to post here for some time, but thinking about it just hurt too much. Eventually I realised that if I waited until it didn't hurt any more, I'd never post it.

Pudi was also the maintainer of http://www.lifewood.org/ - the online garden of remembrance mentioned on the userinfo page for this community. I don't know what will happen to Lifewood now.

We miss you Pudi - you were the living definition of the phrase "gentle giant" and one of the sweetest men I ever knew. RIP.

Will Thompson, 1984-2010

Will Thompson, known as retardedkoala here on LiveJournal, died of complications from Cystic Fibrosis on January 29, 2010. He was 25.

I didn't know him personally (just a random passer-by), but from what I can tell from his journal, he was waiting for a lung transplant. Despite his challenges, he remained optimistic while still being realistic.

I feel like we could have been friends if we knew each other in person. At any rate, I hope he made it to the other side safe and sound and is breathing easy.

Rest in peace, Will.

Receiving a birthday reminder from LJ for a much-loved friend of mine who died June 2009 prompted me to post something here:

Carter was an oxymoron - grouchy, crusty, and at the same time, incredibly lovable and gentle and kind.

RIP tmercenary

I wish we didn't have to celebrate your birthday without you. You really knew how to kick it.

Are the lists still being updated?

mornhyland, information can be found here.

gwydiontinker: his widow has an lj at mistletoeelf.

redefining_self: a friend udpated his journal with the memorial service.

xnamkrad, whose death notice is here.

The last three were all members of the cancersupport community, which I watch occasionally, having lost family members. I may not have known them personally, but I feel remembering them in this community is the least we can do.
